Understanding your trial

New accounts get a trial credit allowance. Here's how it works, when it expires, and what happens after.

Key takeaways

  • New organisations start with a trial — usually enough for 10–20 interviews.
  • Trial credits work exactly like paid credits *except* they expire when the trial window ends.
  • Trial expiry is shown on the Billing page. Default trial window is 14–30 days.
  • If your trial expires before you've decided, contact sales to extend or convert.

Before you start

When you sign up your organisation for the first time, you get a trial credit allowance — enough to actually try the platform before you commit. This article covers the details.

How much you get

Typically 10–20 interviews' worth of credits. The exact amount depends on the campaign that brought you to NextMantra, your stated team size, and any sales conversations you had pre-signup.

Check your trial balance on the Billing page — it's listed separately from paid credits.

How trial credits behave

Trial credits are spent first. When you complete an interview, the platform:

[@portabletext/react] Unknown block type "undefined", specify a component for it in the `components.types` prop

This is intentional — you spend the time-limited credits while they're fresh, before they expire.

When the trial ends

  • Window expires. Default is 14–30 days. After expiry, any unused trial credits disappear.
  • You purchase credits. Once you buy any pack, your trial is considered converted to paid. Existing trial credits still expire on the original schedule.

What happens when trial ends

If you have paid credits, nothing changes — the platform continues operating normally. If you do not, you'll see a Trial expired, top up to continue message when you try to send new invitations.

TIP

If your trial is about to expire and you haven't decided yet, send a few more invitations. Sending costs nothing; only completed interviews consume credits. You'll either use the credits productively or get more signal on whether the platform is right for you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I am on trial?

Open the Billing page. Trial credits and trial expiry are clearly labelled. Once you've purchased credits, the trial is over even if you have trial credits remaining (those still expire on schedule).

What happens to unused trial credits at expiry?

They disappear. Trial credits are not refunded or converted. If you anticipate not using them all in time, send out a few more invites — they cost nothing to send and you'll either use the credits or learn that the platform is right for you.

Can I extend my trial?

Yes, often. Contact your account manager or sales — most extensions are granted, especially if you have legitimate reasons (delayed hiring, internal review still in progress).
