Work email blocked at signup
You tried to sign up and the platform rejected your email as "personal." If you genuinely have a work email, here is why this may be happening and how to fix it.
Key takeaways
- The platform blocks ~50 personal-email domains (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.).
- If your work domain is being blocked, it may be on the personal-domain list by mistake — contact support.
- If you genuinely don't have a work email yet, set up Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 ($6–$10/user/month).
RecruitMe blocks roughly 50 well-known personal email providers from signup. If you tried to sign up and saw Personal email domains are not supported, this article covers what to do.
Which domains are blocked
The standard blocklist includes (non-exhaustive):
- gmail.com, googlemail.com
- yahoo.com, ymail.com, rocketmail.com
- outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, msn.com
- icloud.com, me.com, mac.com
- protonmail.com, proton.me, tutanota.com
- aol.com, zoho.com, gmx.com, gmx.net, mail.com
- About 30+ more region-specific personal providers (web.de, mail.ru, etc.)
What is NOT blocked
- Your company domain (yourname@your-company.com) — even if it's hosted on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
- University .edu addresses.
- Non-profit .org addresses.
- Most country-specific business domains (.co.uk, .com.au, .co.in, etc.).
If your work domain is being blocked unexpectedly
Sometimes a legitimate work domain ends up on the personal-blocklist by mistake. Contact NextMantra via the demo-request form (or any support email shown in the platform footer) with your domain and a one-line description of your company. We typically unblock legitimate domains within 1 business day.
If you do not have a work email yet
TIP
Cheapest path to a work email: register a domain through Namecheap or Google Domains (~$12/year) and set up Google Workspace ($6/user/month). Total cost is under $100/year and gives you a real work email plus shared docs and a calendar. Microsoft 365 Business is similar.
We are not able to whitelist personal email domains for individuals — the work-email constraint is core to our multi-tenant security model. If you are genuinely a solo founder and getting to a work email is a multi-week blocker, contact us via the demo form for a case-by-case conversation.
Frequently asked questions
My company uses Gmail for our business (legitimate G Suite). Why am I blocked?
If your Gmail address is actually on your company domain (you@your-company.com via Google Workspace), it should work — we block @gmail.com, not all Google-hosted addresses. If you used @gmail.com personally, switch to your company-domain email. If you're using your company email and still see a block, contact support — your domain may be on the personal-list by mistake.
I am a solo founder without a domain yet — what do I do?
Two options: (a) Register a domain (~$12/year) and set up Google Workspace ($6/user/month) — gives you a real work email plus shared docs and calendar. (b) Contact us via the demo request form; we sometimes accommodate solo founders case-by-case.
